Machine-room-less passenger lifts

Machine-room-less passenger lifts are a modern, efficient answer for residential, commercial and other buildings where no separate machine room is needed. They are economical in design, make good use of space, and strike a sound balance between cost, capability and running expense.

The drive sits inside the shaft, which removes the need for a separate machine room. Depending on the load, speed and design of the building, several drive and roping arrangements are available.

We supply machine-room-less lifts with rope drive or with flat steel belts. The drive is chosen to suit the project, the load, the speed, the space in the shaft and the level of ride comfort wanted.

Rope drive

Rope drive is a proven and widely used technology, suited to a range of passenger and goods lifts. It allows various combinations of load, speed and roping, and works equally well in residential and commercial buildings.

Flat steel belt drive

Flat steel belts allow compact drive units, efficient use of space and quiet, smooth running. The belts are built from steel load-bearing elements with a protective coating, and on modern systems need no conventional lubrication.

Roping arrangements

1 : 1 roping gives speeds of about 1.0 m/s and loads up to 630 kg, which suits a great many standard residential and commercial buildings.

2 : 1 roping gives speeds of about 1.6 m/s and loads up to 2,500 kg, so it also suits more demanding work with heavier traffic.

4 : 1 roping gives loads up to 8,000 kg and suits demanding buildings that need heavy loads and particular technical and spatial solutions.
